Iceland

A few years ago my friend Sonia and I decided to go on a wild, adventurous trip to Iceland. This was something I had never done before, and back when Iceland wasn’t the popular place to visit. We rented a van that we slept in and drove around the country over a few days. It was one of the most incredible experiences. The landscape is unlike anything else, from waterfalls and ice to volcanos and black stone.

We flew into Reykjavik and then took a bus over to our van rental site. This was a little confusing since we were jet-lagged but was such an affordable option for seeing the country versus doing a bunch of tours. It was $150 euro for 6 days! We headed east along Rt. 1 of the entire Ring Road which loops around the country. We stopped first at Seljalandfoss waterfall which is absolutely breath taking. You can walk behind the falls and explore along trails and it’s right close from off the main road. 30 minutes continuing down on Rt. 1 takes you to Skogafoss waterfall in Skogar and we finished the day at black stone beach on Route 215 to Reynisfjara. This was unlike anything we had ever seen before. There are. images of the textures below. The black beach and basalt columns, caves and sea stacks had us in awe.
We slept in our van in Vic and then headed to the glacial lagoon the next day.

The rest of the trip was spent exploring Rt. 1 with a hot springs that was more so off the beaten path versus the Blue Lagoon, and then we ended the trip back in Reykjavik at the cutest Airbnb. Reminder you have to get the hot dogs! It sounds weird but they are delicious and popular in their culture!
